How does the booking  procedure work?

For the Ride with the Locals Trips you can sign up on the trip page. After your registration has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the €200 downpayment to secure your spot. The remaining amount is due 8 weeks prior to the trip date. You will receive an email with the invoice for the remaining amount prior to this date.

How does the payment  procedure work?

You can pay for your trip by:

  • Bank transfer
  • Paypal
  • Credit card (via the Paypal site)

You will receive a payment confirmation by e-mail after the amount arrived.


Is transport included?

To and from the destination, transport is up to you. We can always offer help to organize transfers from airports or train stations.
At the location itself, transport is included. The guides will make sure you get to the start of the trail and back to the accommodation.

If you plan on travelling by airplane, please offset your Co2 emissions. Climate change is a real issue, and offsetting your emissions is the least you can do.

Is breakfast / lunch / dinner included?

YES! Breakfast and dinners are included (unless specifically stated otherwise.)

Lunches are not included, unless specifically stated otherwise. For lunch we generally stop along the trail somewhere to taste the local food in a restaurant or mountain hut. A great way to interact with the locals, and give back to the local economy!

Do you cater for vegetarians / vegans ?

YES! All our meals are vegetarian, and we can make sure they are vegan too.

Wait what? All meals are vegetarian ?

Indeed. One of the largest contributions you can make to help the environment is to switch to a plant based diet. We focus on local, organic produce and would love to show you how tasty vegetarian dishes can be.


Can I rent a bike / biking equipment?

Ride with the locals does not provide rental bikes.
For some destinations however it is possible to organize a rental bike. Just get in touch with us and we will let you know the options.

What about insurance?

We ask from all of our customers to have proper health and accident insurance Also make sure to check if mountain biking is covered in the country where you are going. Upon arrival, the guide will need to have your insurance details just in case. No proper insurance? No riding!

Can I cancel my trip after booking? What about refunds?

Up to 8 weeks prior to the trip you have the right to cancel with a full refund. After this date, the downpayment will not be refunded.

How big can the group be?

We need at least 4 riders to make things cost effective. If you don’t mind paying a premium price we can do custom trips for smaller groups too.

For the best riding experience we take a maximum of 11 riders per trip. Our experience tells us that more people just means more logistical challenges, flat tires and does not make a better adventure.

What language does the guide speak?

All of our guides speak excellent English. Most of the guides speak several foreign languages like German or French.
